On Friday afternoon, June 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle collision on Indian Mission Road in the area of (ITAO) the new Sussex County Paramedic Station #106. It was reported to be a three car chain reaction incident on the shoulder.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, the local emergency medical service provider, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment included vehicle stabilization; patient stabilization, where needed; traffic control; and debris and fluid recovery.

It appears that a white Ford Utility truck was traveling north on Indian Mission Road and failed to recognize that traffic was slowing or stopping; thereby, striking the rear of the black Chevrolet Equinox, which then struck a blue Ford Explorer.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
