On Wednesday afternoon, June 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle collision at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway, Long Neck Road and Indian Mission Road. It was reported to be a three vehicle collision.

Emergency response units included: Rescue 80 and Incident Command 80-10 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #805 from the Long Neck facility assisted by the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, as well as debris and fluid recovery where needed. Upon arrival of the local emergency medical service provider the crews were requested to assist with vehicle occupant removal.

It appears that a tan Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and was struck from behind by a white Buick Century causing both vehicles to continue traveling westbound crossing eastbound traffic lanes. One of the vehicles then struck an eastbound Ford Explorer at the intersection.

The Delaware State Fire Police were utilized for traffic control measures for the duration of the incident. All traffic patterns were disrupted during the incident mitigation phase.

The occupants of the vehicle were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
