Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Early Sunday morning on June 9th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Sandy Drive in the River Breeze development off of Oak Orchard Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle on top of an residential electrical meter pan.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response assignments were limited to Rescue 80 personnel which were asked to secure the vehicle and evaluate the electrical hazards, if any.

The occupant of the vehicle was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

It appears that the vehicle operator lived nearby and attempted to navigate the vehicle from the residential location in reverse striking the neighbor’s steps and pushing them into the residential skirting of the manufactured home before placing the vehicle in drive and hitting the residential electrical meter pan service panel.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
