Address: 34914 - 36053 Long Neck Rd, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday evening, June 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, as well as the local emergency medical provider were alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road. It was reported to a single vehicle roll-over with possible occupant entrapment.

Emergency response units included: Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engines #80-5 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility; and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included to evaluate and assist with patient care if needed; identify and stabilize the vehicle where necessary. The Sussex County Paramedics; Engine #80-1; Engine #80-3 and Rescue 80 were cancelled while responding to the incident. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was down due to weather.

It was reported upon arrival of the initial emergency response units that the occupant self-extricated himself from the vehicle.

It appears that a black Ford Ranger pick-up was traveling south on Long Neck Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason, striking a tree and other undergrowth and rolling over coming to rest of the vehicle’s top.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

The occupant of the vehicle was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
