On Sunday, June 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush fire incident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Morning View Lane across from the American Legion. It was reported that wires were arcing and ignited the brush and grass areas immediately under the overhead wires.

Emergency response units included: Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments were to identify and mitigate the incident. Brush #80-00 employed a booster line to saturate the area and extinguish the fire.

The arcing wires were not overly obvious and after consultation with the property owners all units were returned to their respective stations.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control on John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the call.
