On Saturday afternoon, May 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the Millsboro Fire Company EMS and Ambulance, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit and various other emergency response entities were alerted for a motor vehicle collision on Oak Orchard Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle collision on Oak Orchard Road just south of Chiefs Road involving a vehicle striking a tree with possible entrapment, unconscious subjects, and vehicle on fire.

Emergency response crews included: Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Units, traffic officers, and the local emergency services provider.

Emergency response units were assign to offer immediate assistance with patient stabilization and CPR / AED efforts; vehicle stabilization; roadway traffic closure and detour establishments.

Rescue 80 responded and arrived on-scene and identified the occupants had been removed from the vehicle with active CPR methods being performed on both occupants. Engine #80-1 responded and was assigned to initiate a fire suppression line based upon potential fire hazard concerns and assist where needed. Engine #80-5 was assigned to assist where needed as well.

It appears that a silver Toyota Camry was traveling south on Oak Orchard Road near Chiefs Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking a tree head-on causing significant damage and trauma to the occupants of the vehicle. 

The Delaware State Fire Police were directed to coordinate roadway closure details and scene preservation.

The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was cancelled based upon the nature of the incidents.

The Delaware Department of Transportation was requested to coordinate arrow board delivery and traffic control measures.

The Office of the State Medical Examiner was requested to respond to the incident.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit were also requested to respond to the incident.

A man and a woman are dead in a single-vehicle crash involving a tree near Long Neck, state police confirmed today.  The crash took place near the intersection of Oak Orchard Road and Chief Road at 4:01 p.m., said police spokesman Cpl. John Day. State police are on the scene.

More details will follow later, Day said.

UPDATED: Crash Kills 2 near Oak Orchard

UPDATED - Two people are dead after a crash on Oak Orchard Road.  State Police say around 4pm a car driven by 52 year  old Anastasia Blavakis or Rehoboth veered off the west side of the roadway for an undetermined reason and hit a tree.  Blavakis and her passenger, 42 year old Steven Wright of Rehoboth were pronounced dead at the scene. Police say neither was properly restrained.

Two people were killed May 25, in a crash that occurred at 4 p.m. on Oak Orchard Road in Millsboro.  The crash happened south of Chief Road.

According to a report from the Delaware State Police, Anastasia M. Blavakis, 52, of Rehoboth Beach, drove a 2004 Toyota Camry south on Oak Orchard Road.  For an undetermined reason, the car veered off the west edge of the roadway and struck a tree.  Blavakis and the passenger, Steven F. Wright, 42, also of Rehoboth Beach, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  Neither were properly restrained.

Traffic on Oak Orchard Road was affected for two and a half hours as troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
