Truck Committee Continues to Encounter Inclement Weather Conditions

On Wednesday, April 10th, the Truck Committee continued to evaluate and participate with various objectives of the apparatus manufacturing plant tour of Rosenbauer Firefighting Equipment. As stated earlier, Rosenbauer was selected via a competitive bidding process to build the new custom apparatus chosen to replace Tanker 80.

As the inclement weather conditions progressed and continued to host significant ice accumulation, loss of electric services, decline of open airway traffic and closure of airports, closure of interstate traffic routes between Sioux Falls, South Dakato and Sioux City, Iowa.

Illustrated herewith are some photographs of the day’s events as well as the weather conditions with temperatures between 17 ° and 31 ° with extensive ice and sleet conditions impacting Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

I-29 in southwest Sioux Falls open after power line forces closure

A section of Interstate 29 near southwestern Sioux Falls was closed for several hours because of a downed power line. Interstate 29 was closed to traffic south of 41st Street in Sioux Falls to the Harrisburg exit, Highway Patrol Capt. Kevin Joffer said.

The closure began at about 9 a.m. and ended after 5 p.m.

Drivers had to find an alternate route through Sioux Falls during the detour.
