Nature: Suspicious Origin - Brush Fire – Rehoboth Shores

Address: 26307 Portside Ln., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, April 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush fire on Portside Lane in the Rehoboth Shores development off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to have heavy fire and smoke visible with extensions to nearby residential structures.

A heavy smoke condition was prevalent on Long Neck Road while responding to the incident location.

Emergency response units included: Brush 80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as Brush #80-00, Engine #80-2, Utility 80-8 with Polaris 80.

Emergency response crews were assigned to fully identify and mitigate the incident with extensive fire suppression and saturation efforts as well as scene preservation to assist the Delaware State Fire Marshall with an ongoing criminal investigation into these suspicious incidents.

A water supply operation, manpower resource operation, and fire suppression operation were utilized to address this incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with perimeter control and scene preservation for the duration of the incident.

Brush Fire Breaks out Near Rehoboth Shores in Long Neck

Indian River Fire Crews are on the scene of a brush fire in the area of Portside Lane at Rehoboth Shores.

The call came in just before 6:30pm.
