Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Location: Indian Summer Village

Address: 12 Arrowhead Trail, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday, March 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle collision on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Indian Summer Village. It was originally reported to be a property damage incident and then upgraded to be a personal injury accident.

It appears that both vehicles were traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway with silver Pontiac Grand Prix stopping in traffic for a school bus. The silver Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound and did not appear to recognize the stopped traffic and struck the Grand Prix causing it to spin counter clockwise and end up in the Harmony Church Yard facing the opposite direction.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the local emergency services provider.

Emergency response crews were assigned to coordinate and assist with patient care, if needed; coordinate vehicle stabilization; provide traffic control measures as well as scene preservation pending arrival of the Delaware State Police.

This section of John J. Williams Highway was closed for the duration of the incident with traffic being detoured onto Gull Point and River Roads. This traffic detour was coordinated by the Delaware State Fire Police.

There were approximately eight (8) persons in the various vehicles and all declined any additional medical evaluations.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
