Hazardous Fire Conditions Warning today….Thursday March 14, 2013

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company wishes to identify that the National Weather Service has issued an increased fire condition warning.

The term used by fire-weather forecasters to call attention to limited weather conditions of particular importance that may result in extreme burning conditions. It is issued when it is an on-going event or the fire weather forecaster has a high degree of confidence that conditions will occur within 24 hours of issuance.

The National Weather Service says a gusty west to northwest wind with speeds over 30-miles-per-hour and relative humidity levels which will drop to less than 30- percent today, will cause increasing fire weather concerns through tonight.

People are being asked to be careful around open flames and make sure to properly discard smoking materials.
