Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Location: John J. Williams Hwy. @ Banks Rd

Address: 24131 John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Wednesday morning of March 14th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Banks Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle collision involving a utility pole and potential trees.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crews were assigned to assist with patient stabilization, if needed; to provide vehicle stabilization; to evaluate the condition of the overhead utility wires because the utility pole was completely severed; and to provide scene safety as well as traffic control measures for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a maroon colored Subaru Outback SUV type vehicle was traveling east on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking the utility pole and swerving to the left and stopping in a wooded area between Banks Road and Holly Lake Road.

The Delaware State Fire Police has to close sections of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident pending clearance of the vehicle and related debris as well as replacement of the utility pole.

The local emergency medical service provider did respond and provide services.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
