Nature: Renovations of Yester years

Address: Station #1 (Oak Orchard) and #2 (Long Neck)

Identified herewith is some archived newspaper documentation courtesy of Jim Bowden that highlights history of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and its recently completed renovations in Oak Orchard and Long Neck during the 1976 time period.

This article highlights the renovations to Station #1 and comments that the recently construction sub-station in Long Neck is equipped and operational; therefore, it is conceived that this article was written in the 1976 era by a well known Oak Orchard resident, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, and current member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Companh - Linda J. Walls.

Today, some 40 years later, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has undergone significant renovations, construction, and continues to serve the Oak Orchard, Riverdale, Long Neck and surrounding communities and is pursuing renovations to include a large pantry as well as walk-in refrigerator and freezer for catered events, breakfast and dinner events.

When comparing these images, you may realize that the old engine bays are now the dining hall of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company.
