County Vehicle Loses Control on Icy Covered Roadway

On Monday morning, February 18th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Inland Bay Road just north of Cannon Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle incident with minor injuries.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Millsboro Fire Company Ambulance Unit, and the Delaware State Fire Police Units.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization and to assist with patient stabilization, if needed.

It appears that a white Chevrolet pick-up was traveling south on Inland Bay Road traveling through an icy patch on the roadway and lost control striking a utility pole. The vehicle was occupied by the driver.

The Millsboro Ambulance Company and the local emergency medical services arrived and provided additional observation to the vehicle's occupant.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
