Vehicles Loses Control On Snow Covered Roadway

On Saturday evening, February 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road just north of Cannon Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle incident with minor injuries.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Chief 80 (Mock), and the Delaware State Fire Police Units.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization and to assist with patient stabilization, if needed.

It appears that a white Chevrolet Impala was traveling north on Mount Joy Road passing the intersection of Cannon Road and encountered a patch of snow covered roadway and lost control striking a utility pole. The vehicle was occupied by the driver and a child in a child seat.

The local emergency medical services arrived and provided additional obeservation to the vehicle's occupants.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

Car Crashes into Pole Following Crash in Long Neck

Saturday night’s mixed precipitation and freezing temperatures proved to be too much for one Long Neck driver.

Firemen from Indian River were called to a crash just before midnight on Mount Joy Road. It appears that a Chevy Impala was northbound on Mount Joy Road passing the intersection with Cannon Road when the driver encountered a patch of snow-covered roadway and lost control of the vehicle striking a utility pole.

Besides the driver, there was also a child in the vehicle strapped into a car seat; no word on if there were any injuries in the crash.
