Story

Friends & Residents of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company....

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is located within the educational boundaries of the Indian River School District and wishes to solicit your support on Tuesday, January 29th.

The Indian River School District (IRSD) has been one of the most successful public school districts in Delaware for the past decade.

IRSD students annually rank among the state’s best on scores from the Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System. In addition, all district schools achieved Adequate Yearly Progress on Delaware’s school accountability system in 2012. The district also has six National Blue Ribbon Schools and five National Distinguished Title I Schools.

Indian River School District has truly become a “Model of Excellence” for Delaware public schools. But with this success has come a need for additional teachers and classroom space.

IRSD enrollment has increased in each of the past 7 years. Even though this growth has been carefully managed by the administration and Board of Education, it has still outpaced what was planned for more than a decade ago.

The Indian River School District will be hosting a two question Referendum on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 and I am asking you to consider voting during the referendum process…

This referendum process is to seek funding for new classroom space, additional instructional staff members, as well as additional instructional supplies and materials.

You may vote between the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at any of the following polling places on Tuesday, January 29, 2013:

East Millsboro Elementary School;

Georgetown Elementary School;

Indian River High School;

Long Neck Elementary School;

Lord Baltimore Elementary School; and

Selbyville Middle School.

If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the IRSD Referendum Hotline at your earliest convenience. You may contact the referendum hotline at (302) 436-1079
