Saturday January, 19 2013 @ 14:38:18 Nature: Gas Leak Address: 115 Rudder Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday afternoon, January 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported gas leak in the vicinity of Rudder Road adjacent to Lingo Estates. Emergency response units included Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility. The Incident Command functionality was coordinated by Chief Ryan Mock. Emergency response crews were access the area via Lingo Estates and survey the community in search of the potential source. It was identified that a residential location was in the midst of changing propane providers and yesterday (Jan. 18th) changed out two propane tanks and today (Jan. 19th) the tanks were found with the values in an open position. The appropriate company was apprised of the situation in order to coordinate removal of the excess propane tanks. Chief Mock notified the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center and requested all units to return to their respective stations.
