Mid Afternoon – Before Survey

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is monitoring the pending inclement weather conditions and preparing to staff both stations (Oak Orchard and Long Neck) during the storms period to ameliorate responses.

Our elected officers encourage everyone to monitor the conditions and follow all evacuation orders.

Everyone should review their respective evacuation plan, if needed, and plan on the possibility of being without power for an extended period. Basic supplies (i.e.; food, water, prescription medications and other medical needs, radios, flashlights, and a supply of batteries) should be included. Preparations for animals should be included in your evacuation plan.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company will update the public of its operational status throughout the storm period.

As many residents of the State of Delaware make preparation plans for Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company performed an initial survey of some tidal areas within the fire district.

Illustrated herewith are some “before the event” photographs at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The surveyed area includes:

• Riverview Avenue – Oak Orchard;

• Indian River Yacht Club Marina Area;

• Warwick Cove;

• Gull Point;

• Pot Nets Bayside;

• Massey’s Landing; and

• Bay City.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company will attempt to post various photographs during the pending event in order to keep our residents and concerned citizens updated with the status and progress of the event.

Please be vigilant, remain aware of your surroundings, and be safe.
