Nature: Woods Fire

On Friday afternoon, August 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a woods fire incident in the vicinity of Pot Nets Coveside and Malone’s off of Long Neck Road.  Actually, Indian River was previously alerted and in route to a vehicle accident when the woods fire incident sounded.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as Brush #80-00, Engine #80-2 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crews were assigned to coordinate fire suppression activities associated with the marsh, brush and woods fire incident. 

Numerous fire suppression lines were advanced to suppression the fire. 

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

Woods Fire in Pot Nets Coveside Under Investigation

Firemen from Indian River were called out Friday afternoon to battle a woods fire in the vicinity of Pot Nets Coveside and Malone’s off of Long Neck Road. 

The fire call came in just before 4 p.m.

Emergency response crews were assigned to coordinate fire suppression activities associated with the marsh, brush and woods.

No word yet on what sparked the flames.
