Nature: Structure Fire

Location: Indian Meadows

Address: 26674 Hollyville Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Wednesday morning, August 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist Millsboro (83) Fire Company on a working structure fire on Hollyville Road in the Indian Meadows development. Additional companies from Dagsboro (73) and Georgetown (77) were requested to the incident location as well as other mutual aid companies were alerted to provide stand-by coverage assignments.

Emergency response units from Indian River included: Engine 80-1, Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 responded from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #80-3 responded from Long Neck facility.

While traveling to the incident, Millsboro’s Incident Command arrived with acknowledgement of residential structure with heavy fire in the garage area with extensions into the attic from “A” side. Upon reviewing “C” & “D” sides it was determined to be extensive fire throughout the structure.

Emergency response apparatus assignments included:  Ladder 83 to activate fire suppression lines and the aerial operations. Tanker 83 was assigned to provide water supply to the ladder truck. Engine #80-1 manpower transferred to the resource pool and provided a fire protection line for the vehicles in the driveway. All other responding apparatus from Indian River provided manpower resources, water resources, and/or water shuttle operations.

The were no firefighter injuries.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.

UPDATED: Investigation Continues into Cause of Millsboro House Fire

 UPDATED – 4pm - The cause of a fire just after 5 this morning near Millsboro is still under investigation.  State Fire Marshal investigators say the home on Shawnee Court was not occupied at the time.  Fire crews from Millsboro, Indian River, Dagsboro and Georgetown found heavy fire showing from the roof and garage area.  Damage is estimated at $200,000.

NEWS RELEASE:  The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a dwelling fire that occurred on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 5:18 am in the Indian Meadows development on the 27000 block of Shawnee Court in Millsboro, Delaware.

The Millsboro Fire Department responded to the scene and was assisted by the Indian River, Dagsboro and Georgetown Fire Departments.  Upon arrival they encountered heavy fire showing from the roof and garage area.

The house was not occupied at the time of the fire.  No injuries were reported.  Damages have been estimated at $200,000.

Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire Marshall Investigating Millsboro House Fire

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is today investigating a house fire in Millsboro this morning.

Firemen from Indian River, Dagsboro and Georgetown got the call just before 5:30 a.m.; arriving units found heavy fire in the garage area with extension into the attic of the home on Hollyville Road in the Indian Meadows Development.

No word yet on if there were any injuries to people living in the house or what caused the blaze

House fire near Millsboro under investigation

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a house fire early this morning in the Indian Meadows development near Millsboro .

The Millsboro Fire Department, along with the departments from Indian River, Dagsboro and Georgetown, arrived in the 27000 block of Shawnee Court shortly after 5:15 a.m. and found heavy flames in the roof and garage area, a news release from the Fire Marshal’s Office said.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, officials said.

Damage was estimated at $200,000.
