Nature: Brush Fire (Roadside Brush Fire)

On Monday, July 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for roadside brush fire Cannon Road near the intersection of Indian Mission Road.  It was reported that a passerby or two extinguished the fire but desired to have the fire company evaluate the incident and check it out.

Emergency response units included Brush Truck #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush Truck #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Both units arrived and acknowledged the effort of the gentlemen passing by, evaluated the situation with remedial actions, and returned to their respective fire stations.

Two Men Help Put OUt Rt. 5 Brush Fire Before Fire Crews Arrive

The Indian River Fire Company was called for a brush fire just after 11:30 this morning on Route 5 near Cannon Road.  A witness to the fire tells WGMD that two men in a pickup truck – Jimmy Larson and Brad Hlinko – also spotted the fire before fire crews arrived and stopped and used shovels to cover the fire.
