Tuesday July, 3 2012 @ 23:16:08 Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS On Tuesday evening, July 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision at the intersection of Long Neck Road and Banks Road. It was reported via the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) that the incident involved two vehicles with possibility of three patients. Emergency response units included: Rescue 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility while Engine #80-5 responded from the Long Neck facility. The Incident Command tasks were coordinated by Ryan Mock. Emergency response crews were assigned to assist with patient care, if needed and to coordinate vehicle stabilization, fluid recovery, and traffic control assistance. It appears that the red Chevrolet Pick Up was traveling north on Long Neck Road and attempted to turn left onto School Lane and collided with a Toyota 4-door sedan. Both vehicles suffered extensive front-end damage. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident. School Lane was closed pending clearing of the vehicles and accident debris. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
