Nature: Vehicle Fire

Location: ITAO Dash In Food Store

Address: 24851 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, June 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire in the area of Dash In on John J. Williams Highway. It was reported to be a fully involved vehicle.

Emergency incident response included: Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included to initiate an aggressive fire suppression attack to mitigate the incident and prevent further spread of the fire into nearby wooded areas; implement full roadway closure methods to ensure adequate space for the fire suppression detail to commence with a significant safety perimeter for the firefighters. Engine #80-1 was assigned to provide manpower and additional water resources when needed.

It appears that the vehicle fire was the result of a minor vehicle collision where the Ford compact vehicle collided with the rear of a small SUV.

The Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware State Police provided the necessary traffic control procedures.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
