Nature: Structure Fire

Address: 36930 Wagon Track Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday afternoon, April 14th, the Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Wagon Track Road in the Pot Nets Seaside development off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to be a working alarm.

The Incident Command was coordinated by Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. responding directly to the incident and was able to amend the initial dispatch assignment to Indian River units only.

The nature of the incident appears to be associated with a some sort of electrical equipment contributing to the heat or burning inside a storage shed. However, the fire did cause damage to the interior and exterior of the storage structure and extended into the ceiling / roof area.

Emergency response crews were required to check for extensions, ventilate, and evaluate the interior structure for heat levels, as well as to evaluate the interior walls of the shed and roofing areas for heat and evidence of fire. Thermal imaging cameras were utilized to evaluate some of the areas. The interior walls of the shed did suffer impact associated with the fire and water.

Chief Deery downgraded the incident response to Indian River crews and returned all other responding fire companies back to their first due fire districts.

Emergency response apparatus included: Engines #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.

There were no injuries, firefighter or civilian, associated with this incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
