Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Location: Long Neck Road by the Candle Shop

On Monday morning, March 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of the Candle Shop. It was reported to have a two vehicle collision with extensive front end damage to one vehicle and both vehicles were off of the roadway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included: Engine #80-5 from our Long Neck facility, Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, the Delaware State Fire Police, and the Delaware State Police.

The emergency response crews were requested to evaluate and stabilize the vehicles, if needed; assist with patient care, if needed; and coordinate traffic control for the duration of the incident. Rescue 80 was cancelled while responding to the incident.

It appears that both vehicles were traveling northbound on Long Neck approaching the entrance to Leisure Point. The front of the Dodge Neon style vehicle collided with the rear of the Chevrolet Impala style causing extensive damage to the Dodge. The Dodge continued to travel off of the roadway onto the property adjacent to the roadway.

The overall incident was coordinated by Captain Jason Faulkner.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
