Neighborhood Crime Watch Meeting

On Thursday evening, March 8th, the Delaware State Police hosted a Neighborhood Crime Watch Meeting at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, Station #1, on Oak Orchard Road.

This meeting was held as an informational session for the Oak Orchard, Long Neck and surrounding communities and was attended by many sergeants responsible for specific operational sections of the Delaware State Police Troops #4 (Georgetown) and #7 (Lewes).

This meeting was a “combined” meeting that serves booth troops and their territories within Indian River’s fire district.

Master Corporal George Camacho is the designated community liaison and has been extremely beneficial with information dissemination with respect to the benefits that area residents could have by reporting suspicious activities.

Specific representatives for various sections of the Delaware State Police included Executive Staff from Headquarters, Major Crimes Operations, Patrol / Traffic Operations, Drug Unit / Governors Task Force, and others.

Major Charles Simpson provided an operational overview of his operations and specific discussions regarding legislative authority. T

roop 4 Commander – Captain Sean E. Moriarty provided an operational overview of his area responsibility and offered each section leader in attendance an opportunity to discuss specific operational tasks under their overisight. The specific residents in attendance we afforded an opportunity for public discussion and dialogue as well as an opportunity to participate in a question and answer scenario.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hereby acknowledges the efforts of the Delaware State Police while serving the communities of Oak Orchard, Riverdale, Long Neck, etc.
