Nature: Vehicle Fire

On Saturday evening, March 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire at the American Legion Post off of John J. Williams Highway.

Duty Officer Ryan Mock responded to the incident location and identified that a white panel van style vehicle with smoke being emitted from the passenger compartment area. 

Emergency response included:  Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility; the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police, and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Engine #80-1 was assigned to coordinate fire suppression tactics, access and ventilate the vehicle and find the origin of the fire.  Rescue 80 provided lighting assistance and prepared for breathing apparatus filling.  Engine #80-3 was cancelled while responding to the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
