Nature: Structure Fire

On Wednesday afternoon, October 30^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to provide a stand-by cover-up assignment for the Milton (85) Fire Department.

The Milton (85) Fire Department was alerted to directly assist the Memorial (89) Fire Company on a  working structure fire on the bayfront that has spread to three houses in Slaughter Beach.  Memorial’s Fire District was activated along with many neighboring fire companies from Kent and Sussex Counties to assist with this incident.  

Many departments from throughout the counties are on scene working to bring this incident under control.  Manpower and water resources are of critical concern.

Indian River’s assignment was amended and redirected to the incident location for assistance as needed.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating and determined that the fire started from an exterior generator's spark.  The damage estimate was approximately $800,000.
