Nature: Woods Fire

On Saturday – January 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a woods fire in the vicinity of Ayers Lane off of Mount Joy Road west of Maryland Camp Road near the power lines.

Emergency response units included:  Brush #80-00, Brush #80-0, Engine #80-2, and Tanker 80 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Brush #80-00 was officered by Nick Karpin who coordinated the incident until the arrival of Chief Steven Deery via Engine #80-2.

It appears that the incident may have been the result of improper burning procedures that got out of hand and spread to the nearby woods. The residential property occupants were notified of the proper burning procedures.

The entire area was saturated with water and wet-water fire suppression agents.
