Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 32570 Woods Ct Harbeson, DE 19951

On Wednesday evening, July 17^th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Rehoboth Beach (86) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a residential structure on Woods Court off of Sloan Road near Pinewater Farms.  It was reported to be a lightning strike with smoke condition and possible fire in the basement and first floor bedroom.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engines 80-1 and 80-3 from the Long Neck facility, Tanker 80 and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Fire Marshall and the local emergency medical services provider. 

Emergency response crews verified a smoke condition inside the residential structure and pursued fire suppression tactics while searching for the fire which was located between the floor joists amongst the first floor and basement areas.  Additionally, it was determined that a lightning strike caused a rupture to the propane line.
