Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 32836 Tern Cove, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon June 23rd, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire departments were dispatched to the 32800 block Tern Cove in the Pot-Nets Lakeside development for a reported structure fire.  A neighbor heard nearby smoke alarms and noticed light smoke coming from the windows of the structure and called 911.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 and #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as Tanker 80 and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility.  The Delaware State Fire Police, Sussex County Paramedics, and local emergency medical service providers were alerted.

Emergency response crew assignment included incident mitigation measures and involved pulling a 1¾’ fire suppression line and made access to the residential structure to immediately find a pan left cooking on the stove. Other crews checked for extensions and begun ventilation to eradicate the smoke conditions from the residential structure.  All other responding apparatus were cancelled.

The residents were not at home at the time of the incident.

There were no reported injuries.
