Nature: Service Call-Fire Assist DNREC - Vessel Leaking Fuel

Location: Orbit St and Prowler St Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, June 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC) with vessel leaking fuel into the bilge pump area.  DNREC was onscene requesting the fire department as a safety precaution before disconnecting the battery from the vessel.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck area, Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included standby lines advanced and charged to isolate any hazardous situation that may occur with the disconnection efforts.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided perimeter control for the duration of the incident.

DNREC had already cordoned much of the area prior to fire department arrival.
