Indian River Inlet to close to boat traffic Monday morning Vessel traffic through the Indian River Inlet will be impacted by the next phase of completing the new Indian River Inlet Bridge. Sunday afternoon (August 14, 2011), the north side traveler on the Indian River Inlet Bridge will be lowered onto a barge and removed. Weather permitting, beginning Sunday afternoon, August 14th, preparations for the final lowering and removal of the north side traveler are expected to begin. This work will include lowering the traveler onto a barge and shipping it off site. The final steps of this work activity will require the temporary closure of the entire Indian River Inlet waterway to allow for the safe removal of the form traveler. These activities are being closely coordinated and will be assisted by the United States Coast Guard. The waterway closure is currently scheduled to occur between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15th. This work activity will have no impact on motorists.
