Saturday July, 16 2011 @ 15:32:26 Nature: Electrical Fire Location: Pot Nets Seaside Bait and Tack Shop Address: 37254 Sandpiper Rd, Pot Nets Seaside, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday afternoon, July 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an electrical fire at the Pot Nets Seaside Bait & Tackle Shop off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to be an electrical fire near the kitchen area. It was reported to be sight and odor of smoke inside and outside of the structure. Initially, a customer reported seeing smoke from the exterior of the structure, upon evaluation nothing was evident. After returning inside, smoke and smells were visible near the fryer area of the kitchen. Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility, Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility responded. Engine #80-3 was requested to evaluate the exterior of the structure via utilizing the thermal imaging camera; Engine #80-1 was requested to evaluate the interior of the structure utilizing their thermal imaging camera. Both units were able to focus on an area within the wall infrastructure which required making access with saws. Upon accessing the wall structure, it was immediately identified that the active fire was extinguished; however, minimal damage was sustained and the Delaware State Fire Marshal was requested since this was a commercial structure. The owner was notified to discontinue electrical service to the structure pending review of the State Fire Marshal. The Pot Nets Seaside – Sandpiper Drive was closed to access for both pedestrians, cars and trucks, golf carts, etc. for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Fire Police had to coordinate traffic and pedestrian objectives. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
