Tuesday July, 5 2011 @ 04:57:51 Nature: Structure Fire Address: 26398 Creekwood Cir Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday morning, July 5th, the Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes fire companies were alerted for a working structure fire on Creekwood Circle, Pot Nets Creekside off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to be the outside of the structure with potential extensions to the roof and interior. Initial emergency response crews identified a fire on the exterior of the manufactured home structure near the propane tanks. Duty Officer Hayden Klingler requested that Engine #80-3 initiate a 1¾” fire suppression line to the rear of the structure and address the fire situation from that point. Engine #80-1 was assigned to initiate an interior sweep of the residence for extensions and related. Rescue 80 established an oxygen bottle refilling station while Lewes responding units were assigned to the manpower pool and to assist with the exterior evaluation. A roof ladder and a thermal imaging camera (TIC) were utilized to evaluate the extent of the fire damage into the attic area. The interior sweep of the structure yielded no significant fire activity and that all occupants had vacated the residential structure. There were no injuries associated with the incident. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures in and around the fire ground operations. The fire, which broke out just before 5 a.m. this morning, is ruled to have been caused by lightning. The home did have working smoke detectors, which allowed the residents to escape safely. Damage was estimated at $2,500 dollars. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the dwelling fire that occurred on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 4:57 AM on the 26000 block of Creekwood Circle in Pot Nets Lakeside in Long Neck, Delaware. The Indian River Fire Department responded to the scene. Upon arrival they encountered fire showing. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigators have determined that the fire originated in a structural wall assembly and was caused by a lightning strike.
