Story
Tuesday June, 7 2011 @ 10:27:21 Nature: Smoke Investigation Location: Behind Royal Farms (80) Address: 26672 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday morning, June 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a smoke investigation behind the Royal Farms store on John J. Williams Highway. Chief Steven Deery, Jr. was the designated officer and coordinated the investigation to determine that this incident was the result of inappropriate burning of construction materials during a known period of open burning prohibition. After an initial evaluation and investigation, Chief Deery ordered the extinguishment of the fire and requested the notification of the on-call Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environment Control Enforcement Officer. Engine #80-1 deployed a 1¾ fire suppression line to extinguish the fire. Engine #80-3 was notified to respond in a non-emergency manner and assist with manpower. The DNREC Officers are investigating.
