Sunday May, 29 2011 @ 13:33:50 Nature: Water Rescue Priority Address: 38747 - 38767 Rehoboth Bay – Sailboat Capsized - Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 On Sunday afternoon, May 29th, the Indian River, Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach fire companies, as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the DNREC Marine Police, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was alerted for a water rescue priority incident in the Rehoboth Bay. It was reported that a catamaran sailboat capsized in the Rehoboth Bay between West Bay Park and the lighthouse in Dewey Beach. Indian River Marine Units #80 Marine 3 responded from our Station #2 facility, while 80 Marine 1 and Marine 80 responded from our Oak Orchard facility. 80 Marine 3 and 80 Marine 1 responded to the Bay City boat launching facilities with Brush #80-0 and #80-00, while Marine 80 responded from the Massey Landing boat launching facilities with Rescue 80 and Engine #80-5. 80 Marine Units did reach various coordinates in the Rehoboth Bay and were subsequently cancelled under the direction of the DNREC Marine Police units upon clarification of the incident and no additional need for emergency response personnel. The Delaware State Police Aviation unit was prepared to perform aerial oversight and the Delaware State Fire Police provided clear passage at the various boat launching facilities.
