Story
Sunday May, 29 2011 @ 00:30:24 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntBLS Address: Intersection of Long Neck Rd & John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Sunday morning, May 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle collision at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway, Long Neck Road & Indian Mission Road. Engine #80-5 responded from the Long Neck Station and Rescue 80 responded from the Oak Orchard station. Duty Officer Brian Morley was able to report that the incident involved two vehicles with one vehicle in the turning lane of John J. Williams Highway on Long Neck Road and the other vehicle was located off the roadway into trees and brush. It appears that a silver 4 door Lexus SUV was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and a white 4 door Chrysler sedan was traveling south on Indian Mission Road approaching the intersection of Long Neck Road. The two vehicles collided for an unknown reason causing the SUV to spin counter clockwise and jumped the curbing in eastbound turn lanes of John J. Williams Highway. The Chrysler sedan turned on John J. Williams Highway jumped the curbing of a private yard and was embedded in a hedge row of trees and brush. Both emergency response units were directed to stabilize the vehicles and assist with the assessment of the vehicle’s occupants as well as perform various clean up measures as a result of the vehicle’s fluid leakages. The Delaware State Fire Police were required to coordinate traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
