Story
Sunday May, 22 2011 @ 06:18:27 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntALS Address: 25731 Holiday Dr (Friendship Road) Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday morning, May 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision involving an overturned truck with reported occupant entrapment. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2) as well as the Sussex County Paramedics were required to respond and provide assistance. Indian River’s Duty Officer, Ryan Mock requested that Rescue 80 perform the following tasks: assist with vehicle stabilization and patient stabilization while Engine #80-5 was assigned to coordinate a landing zone at the intersection of Cannon & Friendship Roads. Engine #80-1 was assigned to scene assessment, clean up and documentation. The Delaware State Fire Police were required to close Friendship Road between Cannon Road and Autumn Road for the duration of the incident. It appears that a black Ford F-150 was traveling on Friendship Road from Autumn Road and failed to navigate a curve and ran off the left side of the roadway striking numerous culverts and ditches, becoming airborne sailing thru trees, fencing and a utility pole before striking additional culvert and overturning. There was no occupant entrapment; however, the occupant required rapid extrication from the vehicle. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit did not transport the occupant to nearby medical facilities. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
