Friday May, 13 2011 @ 21:31:41 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntALS Address: 24756 - 24847 Banks Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Friday evening, May 13th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road with a car reported overturned and possible occupant entrapment. It appears that a silver Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling south on Banks Road, navigated a curve south of Green Road and lost control for an unknown reason. The vehicle left the east side of the roadway striking trees and overturning thereafter. Emergency response apparatus from the Long Neck facility responded directly to the incident and determined that a single vehicle was involved with two female occupants in the vehicle. Engine #80-5 provided emergency lighting and assisted with traffic control pending arrival of the Delaware State Fire Police. Engine #80-3 was requested to assist with patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization and plan for a potential landing zone should aviation be needed. Rescue 80 was requested to assist with all of the aforementioned tasks. There was no occupant entrapment. The Delaware State Fire Police requested the closure of Banks Road for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was not utilized after the initial patient assessments were completed. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident. A car driven by a 17-year-old female was southbound on Banks Road around 9:30 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of her car. The vehicle ran off the road and struck some trees and rolled over. The driver and an 18-year-old female passenger were taken to Beebe with minor injuries.
