Tuesday March, 1 2011 @ 19:11:30 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntALS Address: 22468 - 22673 John J Williams Lewes, DE 19958 On Monday, March 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a multiple vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the cow farm at the intersection of State Route #48. It was reported to have a two vehicle collision with possible entrapment. Upon arrival of Indian River’s Duty Officer, it was identified to have a two vehicle incident with substantial front end damage to Nissan Titan and extensive rear end damage to the Saturn View. It appears that both vehicles were traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway when the Nissan struck the Saturn for an unknown reason. The Saturn continued on toward the curve near Burton’s Pond striking the roadside guard rails. Both occupants of the vehicles were transported to nearby medical facilities for further evaluation. The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance and detours for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. Additional information may be obtained by viewing the following web sites: (1) WGMD Radio 92.7 – www.wgmd.com BREAKING & UPDATED: Vehicle crash on Route 24 near Burton Pond in Angola UPDATE 7:45PM – State Police tell WGMD the accident was between 2 vehicles, however it appears it involved a patient suffering from an unknown medical emergency. Injuries were not serious and Route 24 in the area of Dorman Road and Burton Pond is open to traffic. ORIGINAL STORY: Emergency crews are on the scene of a vehicle crash on Route 24 in the area of Burton Pond in Angola. The crash occurred just after 7pm. Look for traffic to slow or be detoured around the crash site. There are reports of injuries. WGMD will have more information as it becomes available.
