Duty Officer Ryan Mock assigned Engines #80-3; and #80-1 to investigate the incident and determined the severity of the incident. Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 were returned while in route to the incident. The incident was the direct result of improper disregarding of a cigarette device. It appears that the property owner was accustomed to smoking on the exterior deck of the residential structure and discarded the cigarette on the ground between the deck stairs, the exterior skirting of the residential structure and the propane tanks. The device ignited the surrounding leaves and foliage and briefly melted the residential skirting before extinguishment. The emergency response personnel evaluated the incident for extension into the residential structure and between the propane tanks, as well under the decking and residence. Various water canisters were utilized to saturate the area. The residential property was lectured with respect to the proper disposal of cigarette materials.
