Friday January, 7 2011 @ 18:31:12 Nature: Alarm Company Location: Renaissance Nursing and Rehab Address: 26002 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966 On Friday evening January 7th, the Indian River, Lewes and Millsboro fire companies were alerted for an automatic fire alarm at the Renaissance Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 26002 John J. Williams Highway. It was reported to have audible alarms with a smoke filled condition in one wing. Duty Officer Eric Ruckle requested that Engine #80-3 initiate the standpipe task; Ladder 80 initiate the aerial operations; Engine #80-5 initiate the hydrant operations with responding apparatus from Lewes and Millsboro assist with the interior evaluation assignments being coordinated by the crew from Engine #80-3. The nursing home staff coordinated the evacuation of individual residents to central activity rooms. An interior evaluation of the facility was coordinated by the respective chief officers and determined the source of smoke from an HVAC unit. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures on John J. Williams Highway.
