Nature: Structure Collapse

Location: 31868 Timber Acres Circle, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday morning, August 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure collapse incident on Timber Acres Circle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Other ancillary units included the Sussex County Paramedics, Sussex County Technical Rescue Team, Millsboro Fire Company and local EMS provider was alerted to assist as well.

It appears that the residential occupants were performing interior structural renovations and remodeling and erroneously removed the main structural supports causing an interior collapse of the ceiling joints and rafters in some areas.  After an evaluation, the structural damage was much more significant than originally anticipated and the residential structure has been condemned.  The Tech Rescue Team did stabilize the structure to allow the residents to remove their possessions.
