Thursday December, 9 2010 @ 13:48:40 Nature: Falls-ALS Address: 26093 Autumn Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Thursday, December 9th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the local emergency medical service provider as well as providing for a landing zoning for a medical aviation unit. It was reported to have a subject fallen from the roof area of a residential structure onto an exterior deck. The residential address was immediately recognized as a member of the fire company. It was determined that the injured party was on a ladder attempting to fix some guttering issues or equivalent and lost his balance and fell from the ladder striking his head on the decking causing a potential life threatening injury. The Sussex County Paramedics and other pre-hospital emergency medical personnel provided medical assistance and prepared for transportation to Christiana Medical Center via the aviation unit. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control. Update: Friday, 12/10/2010 The volunteer fire company member has been released from Christiana Hospital and possibly will need additional medical observations, surgery and an extended period of recovery. The overall prognosis is extremely favorable.
