Friday December, 10 2010 @ 18:18:48 Nature: Vehicle Fire Address: Long Neck Grill – Long Neck Road On Friday evening, December 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Long Neck Grill on Long Neck Road. Past Chief Steven R. Hawkins arrived on scene and reported to Indian River’s Duty Officer Eric Ruckle of the situation. It was determined that a Grumman type bread (box) truck, converted as a lunch wagon was on fire with significant smoke showing as well as an audible alarm sounding. There was heavy smoke and clear evidence of fire. Duty Officer Ruckle requested Engine #80-3 to initiate an 1¾” fire suppression lines as well as gain access to the interior of the vehicle, disconnect (shut off) propane tanks, and extinguish the fire. Engine #80-1 was assigned to assign with the previous assignment as well as providing a water supply to Engine #80-3. Various saws were utilized to cut access panels into the sides and top of the vehicle. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
