Nature: Washdown (Property Damage Vehicle Accident)

Location: 24514-24749 John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, August 7^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a washdown incident as a result of a property damage vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway (westbound traffic) approaching Long Neck Road intersection.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, disburse absorbent and/or stay-dry, and remove the vehicle from the westbound traffic lane to permit traffic flow.

It appears that as traffic was slowing for the approaching intersection congestion a blue Toyota compact car struck a white Ford F150 pick-up truck towing an enclosed utility trailer causing damage to the rear ramp gate.  The Toyota suffered significant front-end damage.  The pick-up truck was not damage.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
