Story
Saturday November, 13 2010 @ 03:43:11 Nature: Vehicle Fire Address: 39 - 99 Driftwood Vlg Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Saturday morning, November 13th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire with exposures to other vehicles and a residential structure. The Sussex County Emergency Operations alerted Indian River for the fully involved car fire at approximately 3:43 a.m. with confirmation by firefighters responding to the firehouse. Indian River’s Duty Officer, Jason M. Faulkner, Sr., responded to the incident and arrived on-scene. Duty Officer Faulkner immediately identified that a mini-van was fully involved with fire which was spreading to an adjacent sedan and another mini-van as well as exposure concerns to the manufactured residence. Engine #80-1 responding from the Oak Orchard Station was instructed to activate a 1¾” fire suppression hose line to address the incident as well as cover the residential exposures. A second 1¾” fire suppression hose line with AFFF foam was activated to mitigate the vehicle fires due to some type of magnesium product being located in the initial mini-van. Engine #80-3 was assigned to assist the extinguishment as well as provide a water supply to Engine #80-1. The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
