Story
Saturday October 9, & Sunday October 10, 2010 Nature: Cover Up Assignment – Aston Township, Pennsylvania Location: Aston-Beechwood Fire Company On Saturday evening, October 9th at 6 p.m. to Sunday morning, October 10th at 7 a.m., a crew of seven was assigned to provide a cover-up assignment for the Aston-Beechwood Fire Company during participation in sponsoring their local firemen’s parade and awards ceremonies. The cover-up assignment did not yield any incidents until the morning hours of Sunday, October 10th, when Indian River responded to a vehicle incident involving a roll-over and possible entrapment. Upon arrival of Engine #80-3, it was determined to be a vehicle accident involving two vehicles – one roll-over and no entrapment. It appears that a Ford Mustang and a Ford Escape collided causing the Escape to encounter a steep embankment and overturn with all airbag deployment and occupant out of the vehicle. The Mustang suffered right front end damage and the Escape suffered extensive overall damage. The local fire police officers and Aston Township Police Department provide traffic control assistance and ordered the complete closure of this section of roadway for the duration of the incident. The occupant of the Mustang did not need any additional medical evaluation and was released to the custody of his parental guardians; however, the occupant of the Escape did require additional medical evaluations. The incident is pending further investigation.
