Tuesday September, 28 2010 @ 15:34:08 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntBLS Address: John J Williams Hwy near entrance to Sherwood Forest and Giant Foods, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday, September 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Sherwood Forest’s entrance and Giant Food. It was reported that the incident involved three (3) vehicles traveling eastbound approaching the intersection at Giant Foods. It was reported that minor injuries were prevalent as a result of the incident. It appears that a silver Dodge crossover type vehicle was traveling east and did not fully stop causing a chain reaction incident. The Dodge apparently struck the rear of a blue 4 door Saturn sedan; the Saturn then slid sideways striking the rear of full sized Chevrolet pick-up work truck. The incident caused minor injuries to some of the vehicle’s occupants and necessitated the closure of the John J. Williams Highway pending the removal of the vehicles. Indian River’s responding emergency apparatus were requested to provide vehicle stabilization, mitigation of fluids leaking from the vehicle(s), and patient stabilization, if needed. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control measures associated with the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
