Story
Sunday August, 22 2010 @ 15:44:28 Nature: Wash down (Fuel Spill) – Upgraded to Personal Injury Incident Address: 26240 School Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday afternoon, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a wash down incident after a property damage vehicle collision on School Lane between Bay Farm and Long Neck roads. The incident was reported by the Delaware State Police. A firefighter from Indian River was on-scene and provided an incident synopsis which identified that two vehicles were traveling east on School Lane with one vehicle (maroon Oldsmobile sedan) attempting to turn left into a private driveway and being struck from behind by a maroon Saturn wagon. Both vehicles sustained significant damage consistent with a rear end collision as well as air bag deployment of the second (striking) vehicle. One vehicle was leaking from the radiator as well as gasoline spillage in the rear compartment storage sections. An initial consultation with the occupant of the first vehicle indicated a desire to have an additional evaluation; therefore, the incident was upgraded to a personal injury incident and requesting nearby emergency medical services. The Delaware State Fire Police were requested to close School Lane for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
